27 Homestead Avenue is located in Hillcrest – an outer west suburb of Durban well known for its favorable microclimate. The large site benefits from a well established upmarket residential environment and unobstructed views across a greenbelt valley.

The house is designed in the so called “Prairie Style” derived from work by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The articulation is expressed through its columns, fenestration, screening devices, and by the interplay between the horizontal plinth and the vertical elements which are emphasized by natural stone cladding. The building is split over 3 levels allowing maximum use of the natural gradient and creating defined opportunities for both formal and natural landscaped gardens.

The house is currently under construction and is due to be complete by the middle of 2011.
