Private Residential:

Complete

Le Petit Radier remodels and extends an existing dilapidated residential property to provide a modern, luxurious 4 bedroom family home. The site was previously occupied by three distinct buildings. The residential accommodation was situated in an L- shaped white rendered house. A granite outbuilding defined by the perimeter wall sat perpendicular to the road with a poor quality corrugated metal clad shed adjacent.

The new buildings design, massing and orientation have been configured to accommodate the constraints of the site including the existing retained buildings. The existing L-shaped building has been refurbished externally and remodelled internally with new partition walls and staircase, providing modern living accommodation and enabling connections to the new extension.

The form of the new extension adheres to a traditional vernacular of rectilinear massing with pitched roofs and end gables. The extension mirrors the original main house in its position, proportions and sloping roof form. A ground floor extension inserted between the proposed and existing wings provides a further visual and physical connection. The architecture comprises contemporary clean lines, clear detailing and select materials. A simple palette of white render, glass and zinc has been used for the building’s facades.

The existing granite outbuilding has also been refurbished and extended to form a pool room and garage.
