Located within an exclusive suburb of Bloubergstrand on the west coast of Cape Town, Sunset Beach is bordered by a lagoon, bird sanctuary and the Atlantic Ocean affording it a unique setting below the backdrop of Table Mountain. The site was acquired by our clients to build a modern holiday home, complete with indoor swimming pool, gym and ample entertainment facilities.

The approach with the design of this holiday home was to create a stark contrast to both the contextual environment of mixed-style traditional homes and the existing environment our clients live in when they are not on holiday. The result is a modern fusion of clean lines and earthy tones combined with a palette of high quality render, timber cladding and glass. The 750m2 house organizes living areas on two floors, with the lower level dedicated to entertainment and leisure, and the upper floor designated for private spaces like bedrooms, guest room and private lounge. The two building structures are connected by a sleek double storey glass link which defines the enclosed courtyard between the main living areas and the indoor swimming pool.

The house is currently undergoing approval processes, and is programmed to be complete by the end of 2011.
