Residential:
A strong, soft landscape character has been proposed for Bel Royal through the retention of good quality existing trees, the planting of new trees throughout the development and good quality shrub planting in communal areas. A rustic style of hard landscape using muted colours and coarse textures has been adopted.
All buildings are set back from the road with a small walled front garden dividing the house from the road. In some areas the walls will be topped with railings to provide variety and interest. These areas have been designed so that they can be planted up thus providing a continuous soft landscape along the roadsides.
Native trees, shrubs and ground flora are proposed for the southern area of the site with the intention of maintaining a very natural, rural character. With the exception of the equipped play area, the public are discouraged from using the space for active recreation allowing a sanctuary for wildlife to thrive
