Axis Mason has recently been appointed to provide both architectural and interior design services for the new visitor centre at the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust in Trinity, Jersey.  Accommodating a new retail area, café and ticketing hall, the visitor centre will feature Jersey’s first rammed earth wall, an ancient building technique which will draw upon Jersey’s geological make-up for its colour and strata.  Sustainability is a key requirement of the brief and Durrell has great ambitions to create what they hope will become a destination in its own right.  The new centre is due to open in Easter 2011.
