Project Description

Name – Charing Cross Redevelopment
Client – The Co-operative Society
Location – St. Helier, Jersey

This site occupies a prominent urban block within the centre of St. Helier, which is bounded by Charing Cross, York Street, Dumaresq Street and Pitt Street. This redevelopment is an important gateway to the retail core of St. Helier, which links The Parade to the main retail high street of King Street, and forms a central backdrop to the public realm at Charing Cross.

The project delivers a mixed-use scheme comprising of ground floor retail and commercial space, a new 92 bedroom hotel and the restoration and re-use of a number of retained historic buildings to provide new café and residential accommodation. The development will provide a new landmark property in the heart of St. Helier for the Channel Islands Co-operative Society, which has had a continuous presence on the site for almost 100 years.
