Project Description

Name – PKM Railway Stations
Client – Confidential
Location – Gdansk, Poland

The PKM railway project proposes eight newly planned stations within the metropolitan catchment of Gedansk in Poland. The scheme for The Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway intends to connect the Tri-City zones of Gdanks, Upper Terrace and Kaszuby in order to improve communication, commuting exchange between regions and generally contribute to the future growth of these transport channels.

A key design intent for this project is to improve the quality of connected public space between stations and contribute to the development of communities centred around new transport nodes. A modular, uniform and recognisable architectural form is proposed in order to standardise the functionality of each station and provide a distinct and legible design language. Canopies comprised of arched steel frames with a lattice of glazed panels references the historical engineering structures on the route of the former Kokoszkowska railway but also provides windscreen and acoustic cover to all platforms.
