Project Description

Name – Victoria Hospital Redevelopment
Client – Confidential
Location – Glasgow, UK

The masterplan consists of a mixed-use development of circa 395 residential units with ground floor retail space. The development comprises a series of linear and courtyard buildings with a varied skyline of between two to twelve storeys formed around a series of pedestrianised landscaped routes that cut through the site.

The northern plot is developed as a series of west-facing through and through apartments, offering the residents views of Queens Park and benefiting from late afternoon sunshine. Densities are kept modest to this part of the site to avoid conflict with the neighbouring tenement buildings and to allow the parkland characteristic of Langside Road to permeate between the buildings.

The apartment buildings to the southern and central plots are generally limited to an average five storeys, with a series of courtyard gardens formed in between the blocks offering residents amenity.

A taller building is proposed within the central part of the site. This building rises up to ten residential storeys above a podium car park deck on top of a ground floor commercial unit.
