COMPLETED PROJECT: SEYMOUR HOUSE

This classical new build accompanies a locally sourced Jersey granite garage and workshop. The captivating gardens at Seymour House serve to unite the new buildings with the existing listed cottages and coach house.

The main house draws on established elements characteristic of traditional buildings found in Jersey. Featuring an entrance portico, regular rhythm to openings punctuating the façade, four symmetrical chimney stacks, and a pitched slate roof. The walls are finished with a self-coloured lime render. Off-white painted joinery has been used for the fenestration, portico, and cornice, resulting in an elegant and understated exterior.

To the north, steps below the main terrace lead down to a small level lawn framed by planting beds, positioned to enjoy the outward views of the coast. A small orchard in the southern garden, with trees in longer grass underplanted with spring bulbs and native wildflowers, provides privacy from the main road.

The garage and workshop took influence from traditional stone agriculture buildings on island, with a course rubblestone granite finish and contrasting quoins at each corner. The first floor will also be partly in use as a bat roost.
