FRANCES HOUSE

Frances House stands as a testament to the transformation of aging office stock into a vibrant, contemporary workspace.

What was a sad, tired-looking, four-storey property, is now one of St. Peter Port’s most talked-about office locations. Introducing a contemporary palette of colours, textures and materials transformed what was a dark, uninspiring and dated interior.  Attention was also given to the external envelope.  New glazed entrances, high-quality granite paving and a modernisation of the stonework and render have greatly helped lift the building’s profile.

A key feature of the internal aesthetic concept was to strip back the traditional and uninspiring suspended ceilings, dark timber doors and dated cream wallpaper. Now airy and bright open ceilings combine with slatted timber, exposed surfaces, marble panelling and herringbone flooring to create a dynamic workplace environment.

Tenant well-being also features prominently in the refurbishment with the introduction of showers, lockers and a secure bike storage facility. On the upper floors, external ‘green terraces’ have been created which are already being utilised by tenants for social and client events alike.
