The Axis Mason Durban Studio is in the suburbia part of town, with the beach being just a stone’s throw away and a light aircraft airport close by. Although there are several restaurants and coffee shops nearby the team prefers to enjoy lunch together in the studio, going as far as showing of their culinary skills by preparing meals for everyone and sharing the recipe.
When asked about their favourite part of the studio, the team almost in unison said the kitchen area. The kitchen appears to be the social centre of the workspace and also where they hold their Monday morning check-ins to plan the week ahead and Friday afternoon check-outs to catch up and socialise. By the looks of it, the kitchen is where all the action happens.
Although the team kept the social interaction virtual and alive during the lockdown working from home, they sure are glad to be back. Waking up a little earlier and commuting did take some adjusting but returning to studio was a relief as they all agree nothing beats actual real-life interaction.
Speaking of which, our Durban team do get up to a lot! When they are not improving on their skateboarding skills, taking part in an annual warrior race, or participating in local sports activities, they are busy with team building activities in the studio like ‘Office Olympics’, constructing the tallest tower out of spaghetti and building creative structures for the egg drop challenge. Everyone is rather competitive, making it more fun to play and ending of the working week on a successful note.
Our Durban team are behind some really exciting global projects in the commercial, residential and care home sectors.Visit our Projects page to learn more.
