Madison Shopping Centre is an interesting and valuable example of commercial architecture, characteristic of objects being built at the turn of the 20th and 21st century in Poland. The overall high quality, variety of finishing materials used, and interesting formal solutions distinguish this object against similar buildings of this type.
The concept prepared by us includes the reconstruction of the interiors of shopping arcades, face-lift of the building, the construction of the Panorama restaurant on the exposed corner of the building, and the new development of the gallery area from the side of Rajska and Heweliusza streets.
In the interiors we recommend exchanging all steel balustrades for glass, and a complete reconstruction of the ceilings of the common areas, raising their level to a height of 3.1 m above the floor. A completely new arrangement would also gain lighting of passages. It was also proposed to exchange and standardize shop windows, and on this occasion round off sharp, unpleasant corners for customers, which will bring smoothness and harmony to the interior.
An element that enriches the commercial offer of the object is the Panorama restaurant proposed at the level of +4. The glazed shape, from which there is a view of the silhouette of the Old and Main Town, was situated on the current roof, above the main entrance to the shopping gallery. Part of the roof was developed as an external terrace. Thanks to the elevation of the staircase and lift shaft from Rajska Street, the restaurant could also be available after the gallery has been closed.
