Hameau de la Mer is comprised of 54 age-restricted, retirement homes located immediately off the main coastal road in St Clement.
The development is mixed tenure, with 24 rental apartments for Jersey Homes Trust and 30 privately owned apartments, cottages and terraced houses, arranged around a series of shared landscape streets and courtyards.
The buildings are designed in a local 1.5 and 2 storey pitched roof vernacular style with references to rural hamlets found typically on the island. Key finishes were informed by locally relevant materials including granite façades, raised render quoins and lintels, traditional Jersey verge details, lead dormers with a mixture of slate roof tiles and red farmhouse pantiles.
The project won two awards for Best Large-scale New Build Development and Best Landscape Project at the Jersey Architecture and Design Awards 2017.
