Axis Mason completed the fit-out for the visitors centre at Jersey’s world famous Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust. The centre now provides a new admission and membership facility, a café and outdoor terrace, expanded retail, a garden centre, flexible event and function/exhibition space and an outdoor multi-functional market space.

Key design features include a multi-coloured layered granite wall that is used to as an educational messaging board. This enables visitors to engage with the centres’ core conservation and sustainability messages through its design and integrated displays. Durrell’s sustainable ethos has been a key driver through all aspects of the scheme.

This project was completed in 2011 and was a multi-award winner at the 2011 Jersey Design Awards.

Axis Mason acted as executive architects for the project, with the initial design concept undertaken by Ray Hole Architects.
