As part of a wider REGENERATION masterplan for the north of St. Helier, the Ann Street development will transform a derelict former brewery site into a vibrant new MIXED-USE community.

The masterplan, currently under construction for Andium Homes, will deliver 450 affordable homes, shared gardens, and new pedestrian and cycle routes, alongside the re-use of several Listed Buildings, to create an integrated new urban quarter that will repair and extend the fabric of the Town Centre.

At the heart of the scheme is the new Ann Street Youth & Community Centre. This new community asset will offer a wide range of facilities for local families and young people including, a multifunctional sports hall, music and performing arts studios, counselling rooms, and spaces for health, beauty, and food education to support both recreational and developmental programmes for local residents.

A key aspect of the project is the ADAPTIVE RE-USE of the former brewhouse building and offices to provide a dynamic, vibrant new youth centre. The design will retain and celebrate key historic features such as original brewing tanks and grading machinery, while re-purposing materials such as the sectional cast iron tanks as part of the new façade cladding. These re-used elements will form part of a wider public art programme for the scheme, developed in collaboration with local artists and young people from the surrounding community.

Beyond its physical transformation, the centre will deliver long-term community benefits, creating an inclusive hub that will foster youth engagement, social development, and healthy living. This project is about far more than restoration; it’s about reimagining a historic site for modern needs. By integrating heritage and innovation, the Ann Street Youth & Community Centre will bring lasting value to young people and to the wider community.
