The concept is to insert a multifunctional building into the historical context to meet the investor’s expectations regarding the rich functional program of the facilities and the requirements of the local plan. The designed structures are the southern end of the development quarter bounded by Wały Jagiellońskie St., Targ Drzewny, Targ Węglowy and Upland Gate.
The architecture of the building’s facade is based on the classical principles of composition. The rhythmic layout of the window openings of the upper storeys, the colonnade in the basement level and the dormers in the roof slopes give the designed building a restrained expression in the vicinity of numerous historic buildings. The rhythm of the buildings from the side of Targ Węglowy and Katownia is defined by historical divisions of plots, however, without a literal reference to the historic frontages. Locally, it was accentuated by the varying height of cornices and eaves. A subtle reference to the historical division of the plots is also the change in the depth of the window joinery assembly in the openings in selected areas of the designed façade.
