The proposed development on the site of the former Jersey Gas Company looks to provide 253 residential units with 2 commercial units and basement car parking areas.

The masterplan is a collection of perimeter buildings, reinforcing and fronting all edges of the site whilst providing a key through-route connecting the north edge of the site with Tunnel Street.  The design aims to ensure the creation of a sustainable development that follows best practice approach to design and place making, while protecting and building upon the existing character of the neighbourhood and its community values.

The proposed scale, mass and height of buildings are all determined through analysis of the immediate context; selected design features, elements and materials in the proposed buildings will resonate with recognisable elements in the wider townscape, building on the existing sense of place and character.

The proposed material palette will provide a high-quality environment adding to the overall aesthetic value and quality of the development.  The materials will also be robust, easily maintained and appropriate for use in the area, this in conjunction with the massing and detail elements will help to provide a clearly articulated order, rhythm and proportion to each façade thus creating a modern classical treatment that reflects the wider historic context of the site.
