Covid 19 lockdown and restrictions have certainly made all of us less active day to day, but as most countries ease the rules, people are getting out more – whether to restaurants and bars or engaging in sport and other activities. Many people are even back to hitting their daily 10,000 steps targets!
The Axis Mason Wellbeing team noticed this shift in the wind and figured we would make something fun out of it! Being aware of the physical and mental health benefits of walking, we decided to encourage the entire Axis Mason team to participate in World Walking.
We have chosen the London to Delhi walk and have been using our FitBits, phone steps count as well as manual input to accumulate enough steps to cover the distance. Our London to Delhi route is taking us across Europe, down to Turkey and then east where we will end up in New Delhi, India. World Walking conveniently provides a Street View of our current location and allows us upload photos from our own adventures and walks. Seeing these has been really motivating and has even gotten the most unlikely team members out of the door.
The leader board feature on the app shows individual step count has roused up the already competitive team members across all five studios.
Currently in Erzincan, Turkey we are almost halfway – a great effort for the few weeks we have been walking!
