INTRODUCING THE ROMERILS REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT
Romerils is a locally owned company that has been supplying materials and services to the construction industry and homeowners in Jersey since 1950. Their vision for the regeneration of Dumaresq Street is to harness the opportunity of the site to build a successful and sustainable business whilst keeping people and relationships at the centre of what they do.
The primary goal is to create a high-quality, mixed-use development that breathes new life into the town centre. This ambitious project seeks to respect the area’s heritage, enhance the public realm, and foster a vibrant sense of place. As the redevelopment takes shape, Romerils will continue trading, ensuring a seamless transition for both the business and the community.
With 53 new homes, the development strives to offer a better choice and quality of urban living, fostering a strong sense of community. The proposals include the widening of footways and street greening to create public realm improvements along the development edge. At the southern end, urban planting and rain gardens will transform the street character, prioritising people over vehicles.
Environmental sustainability is a key focus, with initiatives such as green and blue roofs, green infrastructure, and street-level rain gardens. These features not only contribute to biodiversity but also promote a healthier and visually interesting environment. The commitment extends to the development’s rooftop spaces, designed to improve residents’ well-being. The stepped building creates private and shared amenity spaces to encourage wildlife and maximise ecological value. We are dedicated to achieving a regeneration that not only protects the environment but also meets the long-term social and environmental aspirations of the community.
