This major REGENERATION project for a 4.4-acre brownfield site in Salford, Greater Manchester, provides 995 new homes and extensive public realm improvements in a key urban setting, adjacent to the River Irwell. At the time of construction, the development was the tallest pre-cast concrete structure in Europe.

Designed for a major Build-to-rent developer, the scheme is arranged over 4 blocks, ranging from 11 to 22 storeys. Lower level podium areas set below courtyard gardens contain car parking and service spaces, together with a number of commercial and retail units and resident’s facilities which help to activate the public realm.

The entire project was developed on a ‘Design for Manufacture & Assembly’ (DfMA) basis, with a series of highly efficient floor plans optimised unit types and standardisation of components that enabled strict control quality, reduced waste, effective programme management and rapid assembly and construction in this busy city centre location, to create a highly SUSTAINABLE new riverside urban quarter.
