This new workplace project provides a safe, welcoming, dementia-friendly environment for Dementia Jersey; a space that moves away from traditional office design to better reflect the charity’s needs and values and to support its growing team.
The brief called for a thoughtful environment that would feel safe and accessible for visitors whilst also providing a functional and uplifting place for the team to work. It was also critical that the space enabled people and families dealing with dementia to feel understood, respected, and supported, fostering a sense of belonging and inclusion.
The layout includes two bespoke counselling rooms for one-on-one support, two meeting rooms for group activities and workshops, and an open-plan workspace to accommodate 20 team members. The design also incorporates a disabled toilet and two dementia-friendly WCs.
Design details were considered with accessibility and comfort in mind. Dementia-friendly design principles guided the use of clear wayfinding, high-contrast colours, natural light, and intuitive spatial planning. The interior palette also reflects Dementia Jersey’s brand identity, enhanced by playful forms, soft textures and carefully selected finishes.
The result is a space that feels calm, INCLUSIVE and EMPOWERING.
