The Jersey Architectural Commission Design Awards 2017 – Winner, Best Large-Scale New Build Development
The project was completed in autumn 2015 and is situated on the St Clements coast road a few hundred metres west of La Rocque Harbour. The properties were exclusively built for the over 55’s and included 19 two/three bed cottages and 35 1 & 2 bed apartments, all have provision for dedicated and visitor parking.
The buildings are designed in a local 1.5 and 2 storey pitched roof style with references to the typical rural hamlets found around the Island. The design also incorporates locally relevant materials and finishes such as random granite facades, rendered facades with raised render quoins & lintels, traditional Jersey verge details, lead dormers with a mixture of slate roof tiles and red farmhouse pantiles.
Roof windows / Roof lights were introduced on sloping roofs facing the neighbouring boundaries to minimise any overlooking.
