Axis Mason is proud to be leading the design for the redevelopment of the Jersey Airport Departures Lounge. The project reimagines one of the Island’s most prominent public spaces, creating a calm, efficient, and welcoming environment that is unmistakably Jersey.
The design responds to the way people move through the space. Clear sightlines, intuitive routes, and flexible seating support a range of passenger needs, from quiet corners and sociable tables to family zones. A new mezzanine level provides elevated runway views, while facilities such as an assisted travel lounge, upgraded toilets, a multi-faith room, and the Sunflower Room for sensory respite enhance accessibility and well-being. A Genuine Jersey Retail Unit and expanded dining options celebrate local produce and give visitors a taste of the Island.
The design reflects Jersey’s landscape, natural materials, and identity. Local granite forms a key material, complemented by timber detailing, native planting, and textures drawn from coastal paths, woodland, and cultivated fields. Curved circulation lines create a natural, intuitive flow, while the lift shaft takes inspiration from the Martello Towers, a reference to the Island’s architectural landmarks.
The phased redevelopment will remain operational throughout, with the first areas opening in 2026 and full completion expected in 2027.
